Community Policing Forum (CPF) & Blockwatch
Active citizenship means getting involved in your community. There are many ways in which you can contribute:
The CPF is run by the SAPS, with direct involvement of the Midrand Station Commander, Brigadier Tsotsotso. The chairman of Sector 1, within which Glen Austin resides, is Jonathan Burrows while Steve Johnstone is Chairman of the CPF for Region A (which includes Glen Austin, President Park, Midrand and Vorna Valley)
The blockwatch is coordinated by the CPF. The blockwatch tries to have at least two vehicles on patrol during high-activity periods. Patrollers are trained volunteer residents using their own vehicles. The block watch is looking for new members and offers flexible shifts, protective gear for our men on the streets and has partnered with the security companies in the area. To participate or contribute to expense-offsets, please fill in the form below.
- Join the CPF committee;
- Attend CPF meetings;
- Join the block watch and get training on how to protect your family and neighborhood;
- Enrol your domestic worker in the Domestic Worker's Forum where they can collaborate in keeping crime down and share information on suspicious activities;
- Join the GARA radio network;
- Purchase block watch decals for your car - you don't have to be a member of block watch, but it gives the impression of a security presence in the area.
