- Sewerage system: In other development in this area the sewerage system that was installed was insufficient. It easily gets blocked and then raw sewerage flows into the nearby wetland. When it rains, the sewerage also cannot cope. This will become a real nightmare when other developments are implemented.. This is why we suggest that when you put the sewerage in that you make it big enough to handle your development and more, so that there will be enough capacity for other developments that need to connect to the sewerage in the future.
- Danger of Flooding. When it rains, there is a problem with the water run-off. In other similar developments, we have seen flooding of roads, that didn't flood before. The intersection of Old Pretoria Road and Olifantsfontein road is notorious for flooding with heavy rain. With the development, water less water will seep into the ground, and more will run down the road. This can cause even bigger water problems on that intersection and even for lower lying suburbs like Country View in Noordwyk.
- Lack of services for existing residents. We are concerned by the increase of the number of house holds in the area, when there is already a lack of water and electricity at times.
- Dealing with Rain Water. We suggest that you collect the rain water and why not use it for the house holds, this will help solve two of our concerns mentioned above. If you do not choose for this option, than this development is only viable after proper stormwater drainage infrastructure is in place.
- Interwaste: We are also concerned for the health of future residents. The development is situated at one of the lowest points in Glen Austin. If the Interwaste Dump om the Olifantsfontein road is reopened, future residence will be exposed to a major health hazard When the dump was still active, many Glen Austin residents have complained of skin, eye irritation and other health problems. If the developers can assist us in keeping the dump closed, we will be grateful. You can liaise with Noleen who is on the monitoring committee. Her no is 082 491 5079
- Traffic, obviously this is major, on a major road linking the N1 to Thembisa and the R21 and there is no chance people can turn across that in peak hour traffic.
